The Golden pomfret (Xenobrama microlepis) is a saltwater fish member of the widely spread pomfret family. Interestingly the only discovered fish of his genus, he roams the high seas of the Subantarctic Pacific Ocean.
Beginners should note that it is a particularly easy fish to cook. Great to steam when fresh, best fried when frozen, the golden pomfret has a white meat, a firm texture and a lovely sweet flavour.
